  • 08 Mar 2014 - Addis Ababa, 8 March 2014 —The African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative (JSR) and Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, facilitated a meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 7 March between the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and leaders of the Sudan Liberation Army - Minni Minawi and the Justice and Equality Movement - Gibril Ibrahim.
  • 03 Mar 2014 - El Fasher, 3 March 2014—The African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) is deeply concerned over reports of an escalation in violence in South Darfur over the course of the past several days. The violence has resulted in the reported burning of a number villages and the displacement of a large number of civilians in the vicinity of Um Gunya, located approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Nyala.

    18 Feb 2014 - On 18 February 2014, a planning workshop for the Darfur Internal Dialogue and Consultation (DIDC) mechanism, a key part of the peace process stipulated in the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), was convened at the University of El Fasher, North Darfur. The event brought together more than 60 people from the five Darfur states to deliberate on the procedures for conducting the dialogue and consultation process at the locality, state and regional levels.
  • 16 Feb 2014 - On 15 February 2014, the African Union – United Nations Joint Special Representative (JSR) for Darfur, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, addressed the Social Peace Conference organized by the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) in Zalengei, Central Darfur, and emphasized that the root causes of conflict in Darfur can only be addressed through genuine dialogue.
  • 16 Feb 2014 - Kampala, 16 February 2014—African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative/Joint Chief Mediator Mohamed Ibn Chambas met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on 12 February during a three-day visit to the country, as part of the JSR’s efforts to mobilize regional support for an inclusive peace agreement in Darfur.

    12 Feb 2014 -  Kampala, 12 February 2014—The African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative/Joint Chief Mediator, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, met in Kampala with the leadership of the Darfuri non-signatory movements during a three-day visit to Uganda which began on 10 February.
  • 09 Feb 2014 - Khartoum, 9 February 2014 - The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), in collaboration with the Peace Research Institute of the University of Khartoum, opened on 9 February a two-day conference on Understanding Tribal Conflicts in Darfur.  
  • 02 Feb 2014 - Addis Ababa, 2 February 2014— Concerns over delays in deployment of personnel and equipment to the African Union—United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) were the primary focus of discussion of the seventeenth meeting of the Tripartite Coordination Mechanism on UNAMID. The forum was held on 2 February at the African Union’s headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the margins of the African Union Summit.
