22 Sep 2017 - El Fasher, 22 September 2017- UNAMID is deeply concerned about clashes between government forces and internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing at Kalma camp, South Darfur, which have led to the death of at least three IDPs and injuries to some 26 others.
The Mission urges all conflicting parties to exercise utmost restraint and is doing everything it can to deescalate the situation.

08 Aug 2017 - United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat today announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Leonard Muriuki Ngondi of Kenya as Force Commander for the African Union‑United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID). He succeeds Lieutenant General Frank Mushyo Kamanzi of Rwanda to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for his dedication and effective leadership as head of UNAMID military component.

02 Jun 2017 - The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the attack on African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) peacekeepers by an unidentified group in a carjacking incident in Nyala, South Darfur State on 31 May 2017. One Nigerian peacekeeper was killed in the attack.
The members of the Security Council expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the family of the victim, as well as to the people and Government of Nigeria and to UNAMID.
