14 Nov 2011 -17 November 2011- A polio vaccination campaign conducted by World Health Organization (WHO), with the support of UNAMID, started 17 November 2011-today and will continue until 24 November in North Darfur, targeting 460,551 children under the age of 5 years. The polio campaign is important as neighbouring Chad has reported recently an outbreak of 119 polio cases.

Yonis, accompanied by the South Darfur Minister of Health Ibrahim Elkhaleel, yesterday led a memorial ceremony in Nyala for the Sierra Leonean peacekeeper killed on patrol on 6 November.

09 Nov 2011 - Kigali (Rwanda), 9 November 2011 - UNAMID Joint Special Representative Ibrahim Gambari and Force Commander Patrick Nyamvumba (of Rwanda) joined several heads of African States at a major conference which opened yesterday in Kigali on post-conflict peacebuilding, during which Rwanda is to share lessons from its transition to a sustainable peace.

07 Nov 2011 - Nyala, 7 November 2011 – An African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) patrol came under attack yesterday afternoon by unidentified armed persons near Nyala, South Darfur. As a result, one soldier was killed and two other were wounded. All the casualties were from Sierra Leone.

03 Nov 2011 -03 November 2011- UNAMID organized a three-day workshop on international human rights law in El Geneina, West Darfur, targeting 30 Sudanese government family and child protection officers. The workshop aimed at raising awareness among this group on issues related to domestic violence and juvenile justice system.
