03 Nov 2011 - UNAMID donates radios to disable people in Zalengei

3 November 2011- More than 20 members of the Zalingei Disabled Union received today self powered radios donated by UNAMID as part of its continuous efforts to assist the most vulnerable of the society.

Mr. Ahmad Audallah Jambali, chairman of the Zalingei Disabled Union, said the radios will help them to be aware of activities taking place around the world. “You have raised the morale of the handicapped today,” he added.

The radios donated are among the many radios UNAMID will be distributing to needy groups in Darfur. Self powered by rewinding or solar energy, the radios can play for many hours when charged fully and operate on AM/FM/and SW frequencies.
