UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

    This programme features education for children and the role of the family in the success of the child in education.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.10, September 2017: Drinking water in South Darfur

    This programme features drinking water in South Darfur as a source of livelihood and investment for many young people who work in the distribution of water in the neighborhoods. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.9, September 2017: psycho-social support provided by UNICEF for children

    This programme features psycho-social support provided by UNICEF for children in South Darfur, in  cooperation with the Ministry of Social Welfare, through  training cadres of the community to provide psychological support.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.8, September 2017: Education for children

    This programme features education for children and the role of the family in the success of the child in education.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.7, September 2017: Family relations

    This programme features family relations and their impact on social solidarity among IDPs in Darfur camps as well as  their families living in the cities.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.6, September 2017: Public poetry and peace in Darfur

    This programme features the role of public poetry in spreading the culture of peace in Darfur. The programme also features the role of the UNAMID’s Human Rights Office in supporting human rights in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.5, September 2017: Phenomenon of revenge and tribal conflicts in Darfur

    This programme features revenge and tribal conflicts in Darfur. Due to revenge and tribal conflicts, hundreds of civilians are killed every year in Darfur. In the programme, Rakoubat Aba Saleh  addresses this phenomenon and its impact on Darfur peace.

    The voice of the children of Darfur discusses how to choose loyal and honest friend, in order to avoid getting in the wrong way and falling into the prohibitions. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.3, September 2017: Harmful habits of maternal and child health

    This programme features UNAMID support for  the reduction of harmful habits affecting  maternal and child health, by providing medical aids and spreading awareness  about the dangers of FGM.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.2, September 2017: UNAMID Assist South Darfur Airport

    This programme features the assistance to South Darfur airport by communication equipment to facilitate the safety of air operations.
