UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.21, September 2017: An interview with local Hakamat

    In this programme you will hear an interview with Fatima Mohammed, local Hakamat, female singer using songs for war, about her song to encourage peaceful coexistence between South Darfur Tribes.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.20, September 2017: Community-based Labour-Intensive Projects

    In this programme you will hear about the benefits of Community-based Labour-Intensive Projects (CLIPs) provided by UNAMID DDR Section to support peace in Darfur and interview with Director of Labado   Primary School, Abdulrahman Mohammed Ibrahim, about problems faced by children in his school.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.19, September 2017: Making of Al Omara

    In this programme you will hear about the making of Al Omara traditional baskets for keeping and preserving food in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.18, September 2017: Preparation of rainy season in Abu Shouk

    In this programme you will hear about activities of women of Abu Shouk’s camp in El Fasher before the rainy season starts.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.17, September 2017: An interview with Rural Judge of Abu Surooj

    This programme features an interview with Amir Yahiya Mohammed, Rural Judge of Abu Surooj, about UNAMID sponsored activity in collaboration with rural courts to strengthen the dispensations of justice in rural areas of Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.16-09-2017: Making of El Baratal

    In this programme you will hear about the making of El Baratal, handicrafts used by Darfur women to decorate their homes. 

     

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.15, September 2017: Child labor is widespread in Darfur

    This programme features the prevalence of child labor in Darfur and its  destructive impact on children’s growth.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.14, September 2017: Measles in South Darfur

    This programme features incidents of Measles in South Darfur, and how to prevent and treat it.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.13, September 2017: Clothes designer from EL-Fasher

    This programme features an interview with Khadija Adam Ahmed Ibrahim, a clothes’ designer from Al-Salaam IDP camp in Elfasher, about her profession and where she had acquired designing.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.12, September 2017: A profile of Zahra Abdel Naim

    This programme features a profile of Zahra Abdel Naim, a civil society  activist  in Darfur, on her organization’s   contributions to peace, stability and dialogue
