UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.12, August 2017: Marafi Association

    This programme features Marafi Association, the center focuses on culture to build peace in Darfur. The departments in the association including arts and painting, folklore, music, drama, poetry and writing for children and youth.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.11, August 2017: Hopes rescue children from poverty and abuse

    This programme discusses about hopes of children of Darfur in liberating them from poverty and abuse and raised them with an imagination for justice.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.10, August 2017: UNAMID led project improves education facility

    In this programme you will hear about how UNAMID help improve the learning environment at El Ryad primary school, in El-Geneina, West Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.9, August 2017: Children’s health in Darfur

    This programme discusses about the health of children who live in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Darfur, Sudan and the impact of the conflict to their health. 

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.8, August 2017: Water scarcity in Darfur

    This programme talks about scarcity of water in Darfur, and how it has contributed to the conflict in the region.  

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.7, August 2017: Darfuri children’s creativity

    In this programme you will hear about how parents in Darfur teach their children to be talented and creative.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.6, August 2017: Income generation activity in Darfur

    In this programme you will hear about baskets produced by Darfuri women as an income generation activity. Weavers are paid based on the size of the basket they produce. A typical medium-sized “Basket of Hope” takes about a week to complete, while the larger” Basket of Strength” could take nearly a month. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.5, August 2017: Human rights and fair trial for rural courts

    This programme features a report on a workshop to promote human rights and fair trial for Rural Court Judges in El Fasher, organized by UNAMID in collaboration with the Judiciary Administration of North Darfur.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.4, August 2017: Favorite Darfuri child game

    This programme features a favorite Darfuri children game, Rama and guards, where the players try to break into the ring, and there is a bitter struggle between them. The roles rotated and the game continues.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.3, August 2017: West Darfur’s native administration conference

    This programme discusses about the peaceful co-existence dialogue amongst Darfuri as part of the West Darfur’s native administration conference
