UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

    This programme features UNAMID's Human Rights Section activity in collaboration with the North Darfur Chief Judges Office, in organizing a two-day workshop on national and international human rights standards.  

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.21, August 2017: Support your children at school (repeat)

    This programme discusses about the importance of parents’ support to their children at schools in Darfur.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.20, August 2017: Sensitization workshop in West Darfur

    This programme talks about the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) project in supporting youth activities at Ardamat IDP camp in El Geneina, West Darfur, through a sensitization workshop. 

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.19, August 2017: Women’s empowerment

    This programme features an interview with Amina Abdullah Ahmad, a woman from El Salam IDP camp, about her views on women empowerment in the field of education. 

     

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1.18, August 2017: Support your children at school

    This programme discusses about the importance of parents’ support to their children at schools in Darfur. 

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.17, August 2017: UNAMID led project to improve living standards for IDPS

    This programme features UNAMID’s initiative in promoting life skills and livelihoods in Darfur to improve living standards for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Darfur.   

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.16, August 2017: UNAMID activates traditional mechanism for peace

    This programme discusses about UNAMID led project to provide assistance to protect farmers during the harvest season by activating traditional mechanisms and legacies that are accepted by them. 

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.15, August 2017: UNAMID supports peace activities in Darfur

    This programme features UNAMID’s support in organizing events for peace between two communities in East Darfur through cultural activities and vocational training.

    This programme discusses about the importance of having hopes amongst children of Darfur, so they can come out of poverty and abuses, and to have imagination of peace.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.13, August 2017: Almaareg Foundation

    This programme features an interview with Adam Mohammed, manager of Almaareg Foundation for Peace and Development, a national NGO that focuses its activities in peace building and development.
