28 Aug 2011 - El Fasher, 28 August 2011 – An Integrated task team led by the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) comprising of representatives of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UNAMID civilian staff, military and police component today escorted back to their respective homes the five Sheiks who had been sheltering in UNAMID in Kalma camp for over a year.

28 Aug 2011 - El Fasher, 28 August 2011 – The Governor of South Darfur, invoking the spirit of the Muslim Holy Feast of Eid, granted amnesty to five local Sheikhs sheltering in UNAMID’s Community Policing Centre (CPC) near the Kalma Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) for over a year, ever since local authorities sought to arrest them for alleged criminal activities.The camp, the largest in Darfur, was riven by violence at the time of the events.

25 August 2011 - UNAMID has begun an airlift of vaccines for a three-month campaign to protect livestock herds in Darfur.
The first batch of vaccines airlifted by UNAMID arrived on Wednesday and was handed over to officials of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries in El Fasher, North Darfur. The airlifts will continue in coming weeks.

El Fasher, 22 Aug 11 – UNAMID Joint Special Representative (JSR) Ibrahim Gambari opened the inaugural meeting of the Cease Fire Commission (CFC), saying entire communities in Darfur were looking to it for leadership to take Darfur forward after the signing of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).

17 Aug 2011 - El Fasher, 17 August 2011 - The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur and its partner agencies have completed an assessment mission in Western Jebel Marra area, paving the way for increased deliveries of humanitarian assistance to the isolated region.
