19 Aug 11 - UNAMID military starts medical campaign in North Darfur

18 August 2011 - UNAMID troops started today a six-day medical campaign in North Darfur. The exercise, aimed at providing urgent medical assistance to the local population, will visit four villages, Gurra Farjawi, Kuma, Dar Assalam and Shangil Tobaya. The villages have been selected due to difficult access to medical facilities. Earlier today, about 1,000 members of the local population of Gurra Farjawi, including community leaders, gathered to receive medical attention and to interact with UNAMID Force Commander, Lieutenant General Patrick Nyamvumba. So far, about 300 persons have been treated by the peacekeeper.
