  • 10 Sep 2012 - Khartoum, 9 September 2012 – Strengthening partnerships to better protect civilians was the focus of yesterday’s fourth coordination meeting between the UN Country Team (UNCT) and the African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
  • 09 Sep 2012 - El-Fasher, 6 September 2012 -- UNAMID's national staff held yesterday a strike over the result of a salary survey that was conducted in March 2012. Following the survey results, an increase was granted. The national staff consider the increase as insufficient and demand to be either paid in US dollars or to have their salaries recalculated according to the June 2012 exchange rate.
  • 09 Sep 2012 - El Fasher, 9 September 2012 – UNAMID’s leadership expresses its deep concern over a recent resumption of violence in Kutum, North Darfur, resulting in casualties among the local population. The Mission's team site near the town, located approximately 100 kilometers northwest of El Fasher, reported that the security situation deteriorated beginning on 4 September with a rash of shootings, including an assassination attempt on a local official.
  • 30 Aug 2012 - El Fasher, 30 August 2012 – About 80 percent of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who had fled Kassab camp to Kutum town, North Darfur, in the aftermath of the recent attacks, have returned to their camp, according to UN agencies on the ground.
  • 23 Aug 2012 - El Fasher, 23 August 2012 - An African Union – United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) team visited Mellit, North Darfur, on 21 August to meet with community leaders and mitigate friction between the Ziyadiah and Berti tribes, the two main tribes in the area.
  • 21 Aug 2012 - El Fasher, 21 August 2012 - The African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) reports that two of its peacekeepers have gone missing on 20 August in North Darfur. The incident, which took place in the town of Kabkabiya, located approximately 140 kilometers west of El Fasher, is being investigated by the Mission and the Government of the Sudan. UNAMID will convey more details as they become available.
  • 20 Aug 2012 - El Fasher, 19 August 2012 – The Acting Joint Special Representative of the African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Ms. Aichatou Mindaoudou, is saddened by today's plane crash which took the life of an entire delegation chaired by the Minister of Guidance and Endowments, Mr. Ghazi Al-Saddiq, as well as the crew.  The plane went down near Talodi, a town in the State of South Kordofan.
  • 17 Aug 2012 - On behalf of the African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur, I wish to congratulate the people of Darfur, the Darfur Regional Authority and the Government of Sudan on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.  
  • 15 Aug 2012 - 15 August 2012 - UNAMID Acting Joint Special Representative and Joint Chief Mediator a.i. Aichatou Mindaoudou, accompanied by Force Commander Patrick Nyamvumba, on 14 August visited Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) Chairman El Tigani Seisi to convey the Mission's commitment to the Authority and to the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur.
  • 13 Aug 2012 -   Kutum, 13 August 2012 - Security concerns were among several issues discussed on 12 August during a meeting between UNAMID Force Commander Lt Gen Patrick Nyamvumba and leaders from Kassab internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Kutum, North Darfur.
