On behalf of the African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur, I wish to congratulate the people of Darfur, the Darfur Regional Authority and the Government of Sudan on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

I hope the spirit of this festive season brings goodwill, tolerance, forgiveness and happiness to all, and paves the way to lasting peace, stability and development in Darfur.

May this holy period of Eid al-Fitr guide us and foster our solidarity so that prosperity and the values of peace, reconciliation and dialogue may prevail in Darfur and Sudan.
