15 Dec 2016 - El Fasher, 15 December 2016 – The African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) expresses serious concern over recent repeated attempts by a number of former staff members to disrupt its operations. They have on a number of occasions forcefully blocked movement in and out of UNAMID camps and obstructed access of Sudanese nationals employed by the Mission to their workplaces.
06 Dec 2016 - El Fasher, 5 December 2016 – UNAMID held a day-long seminar aimed at enabling Sudanese business owners to understand the United Nations’ policies and procedures related to business partnerships as well as participate in tenders issued by the Mission. The event, organized under the theme, “How to do business with the UN,” took place today at the Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum.
22 Nov 2016 - Khartoum, November 22th, 2016- The United Nations, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of International Cooperation have launched a major drive to enhance the rule of law in Darfur.
06 Nov 2016 - El Fasher, 03 November 2016 –The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) welcomes the unilateral six-month cessation of hostilities jointly declared by, among others, the Sudan Liberation Army-Minni Minnawi (SLA-MM)and the Justice and Equality Movement-Gibril (JEM-Gibril), which entered into effect on 31 October 2016.
25 Oct 2016 - Khartoum, 23 October 2016 –The 22nd meeting of the Strategic Level Tripartite Coordination Mechanism on UNAMID took place on 20 October in Khartoum.
10 Oct 2016 - Though the region of Darfur is relatively peaceful at this time, a small portion of Jebel Marra within Darfur continues to be intermittently volatile.
As the UN Secretary-General has always stressed, there can be no military solution to the conflict in the region. The challenge is: how can UNAMID best assist the Government of Sudan and the armed/non-signatory movements to stop fighting and engage in genuine political dialogue towards sustainable peace.
28 Sep 2016 - The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Abd al-Aziz Ghandour, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan.
22 Sep 2016 - Khartoum, 22 September 2016- The United Nations welcomes the release yesterday by the Government of Sudan of twenty one children allegedly associated with armed groups. These children, who have been in the custody of the government security forces, were captured during fighting between the Government of Sudan and the Justice and Equality Movement in Darfur, in 2015.

18 Aug 2016 - The Secretary-General is disappointedthatthe Sudanese partiesfailed toreach an agreement on a cessation of hostilities in Darfur and the Two Areas of Blue Nile and South Kordofan States, during the last round of negotiations from 9 to 14 August 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
