UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 13 May 2017: Ways to avoid Cholera disease.

    This program features UNAMID’s Nutrition Advisory and Hygiene Awareness training for women from Abu-shook IDPs camp in North Darfur. It also features songs by women from Al Salam locality reflecting one of the traditional mechanism of conflict resolution in the area. In addition the program features an interview with Mohammed Adam Ibrahim, Head of Vaccination Center in Melleit, about how they convince families to bring their children for vaccination against child diseases. Furthermore the program features ways to avoid cholera disease, Cholera is an extremely virulent disease that affects both children and adults. Unlike other diarrheal diseases, it can kill healthy adults within hours. Individuals with lower immunity, such as malnourished children or people living with HIV, are at greater risk of death if infected by cholera.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 12 May 2017: Reducing the risk of Un-Exploded Ordinance in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Amir Yahiya Mohammed, a Rural Judge at Abu Surooj, about UNAMID’s collaboration with rural courts to strengthen the dispensations of justice in rural areas in Darfur. It also features an interview with Yahiya Ahmed Aalem, Head of Friends of Peace and Development Organization (FPDO) in ELFasher, about the impact of UXO awareness programs on reducing the risk of Un-Exploded Ordinance in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 11 May 2017: How to compact the cases of early marriage of a girls in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with religious affairs officer, Ahmed Al duma, from Shangil Tobay Locality, about peaceful coexistence through massages by religious leaders in the area. It also features an interview with Kaltoum Folo, a midwife, from Midwives School in El Fasher, on how pregnant women can take care of herself from conception until birth. In addition the program also features an interview with Director of Social Welfare in the Ministry of Social Affairs, North Darfur state, Omda Mohammed Abakar about how to diminish the cases of early marriage of a girls in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 10 May 2017: UNAMID’s supports to enhance the rule of law in Darfur.

    This program features UNAMID’s supports to enhance the rule of law in Darfur by building centers for the Sudanese police in the villages of voluntary return, as is the case in the village of Laweya in South Darfur. Safe environment is considered a prerequisite for peace. Security and peace stability help the economy to flourish, which have direct benefit on the lives of people in Darfur. The program also features an interview with Khalid Jebreel, UNAMID Civil Affairs Officer, on introduction of QIPs restructuring project implementation & monitoring, preparation of budget, financial reports and record management.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 09 May 2017: Darfur free from armed Violence.

    This program features the efforts made by UNAMID and Darfur Regional Authority towards a Darfur free from armed Violence. Despite a significant decrease in armed conflict in Darfur region, civilians remained exposed to violence and criminality, while long-term comprehensive solutions to address the needs of the region’s 2.6 million displaced persons remained elusive. The program also features an interview with Mahmoud El-Nair, UNAMID DDR Officer, about what UNAMID has offered to the ex-fighters from Armed Movements who signed agreement with Government of Sudan, to work for the community in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 08 May 2017: DIDC Outreach from Badia West Darfur.

    This program features the DIDC Outreach from Badia West Darfur, UNAMID Civil Affairs and DIDC Office is continuously facilitating the Darfur Peace process through the Darfur Internal Dialogue and Consultations. The program also features efforts to women's empowerment in the field of Health education, in EL-Genina West Darfur, UNAMID’s Gander Advisory Unit.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 07 May 2017: UNAMID Volunteers handover school material to Gad Alhabob Basic School.

    This program features the role of native administration in peace building in Darfur. The program also features an interview with Hasbu Mohammed, Programs coordinator for South Darfur State Committee for Compacting Gender Base Violence (GBV) about their work in collaboration with UNAMID. The program furthermore, features a report on UNAMID Volunteers handover school materials to Gad Alhabob Basic School.   

  • Voice of Children, 06 May 2017: Orphans in Zam Zam IDP’s Camp mix to share food during school days.

    This program features how school children in Darfur spend their holidays. Parents should be allowed to take their children on holidays. Family time is important not only for the development of a child, but also for enhancing family relationships. Furthermore, it is also important that all families are able to holiday if they so wish. The price of holidays significantly increases during the school breaks. The program also features how children at Zam Zam School for girls and orphans in Zam Zam IDP’s Camp mix to share food during school days.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 05 May 2017: women’s art of hand craft in Darfur.

    This program features women’s art of hand craft, manual skills and perfume making after having been supported by UNAMID DDR in west Darfur. The program also features UNAMID’s efforts in promoting gender equality and advancing the rights of women and girls from all walks of life.in West Darfur Fur Branga. In addition to an interview with Eisa Adam Braka, the manger of DDR Sudan office in west Darfur, about the reintegration projects in the State.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 04 May 2017: Interview with King of Dar Seweni in North Darfur, Sharif Adam Tahir.

    This program features a report on how to promote Human rights and fair trial for Rural Court Judges in El-Fasher, as transpired in a workshop organized by UNAMID in collaboration with the Judiciary Administration of North Darfur. It also features an interview with the King of Dar Seweni in North Darfur, Sharif Adam Tahir, about the challenges facing the Native Administrative on the performing their role in supporting peace and stability in Darfur.
