UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Voice of Children, 23 May 2017-repeat of 19: Helping your child learn how to behave.

    This program features a discussion on helping your child learn how to behave. Discipline is about helping children learn how to behave appropriately. You can use a range of disciplinary strategies to teach your child the basics of good behavior. The strategies you choose will depend on your child’s age. Knowing what behavior is appropriate, be it at home, a friend’s house, child care, preschool or school.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 22 May 2017: Protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse.

    This program features a report on the protection from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse, in a training workshop organized by El-Fasher University in collaboration with UNAMID. The program also features the closing ceremony of the graduation of participants in the Training of Trainers Courses, organized by GoS Prisons Administration and Faculty of Education of El-Fasher University in collaboration with UNAMID.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 21 May 2017: Women's and Girls' Education

    This program features girls' education in El Daein East Darfur. Gender equality is a global priority for UNESCO and inextricably linked to its efforts to promote the right to education and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. Gender inequality in education affects both girls and boys, women and men, but girls and women are still more often disadvantaged. The program also features an interview with Head of Women’s Office in Ministry of Social Affairs in El Daein, Sana Al- Mahi, about UNAMID’s Quick-impact projects for women in the area.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 20 May 2017: Launching of the first high school for girls in Kernding IDPs camp in West Darfur by UNAMID DDR Section.

    This program features appeals for women’s rights to education at remote Asunga locality in West Darfur, during the celebration of the International Women’s Day organized by UNAMID. The program also features the launching of the first high school for girls in Kernding IDPs cam in West Darfur by UNAMID DDR Section.

  • Voice of Children, 19 May 2017: Helping your child learn how to behave.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 18 May 2017: Songs for Peace.

    This program features an interview with Traditional Singer, Fadul Abdallah Traieh from Melleit North Darfur, about how he promotes peace culture in Darfur through arts. It also features the delivery of the craftworks and carpentry project by UNAMID Rule of Law Unit, to Ardmata prisoners in West Darfur EL-Genina and an interview with snigger Sharif EL Fehail, from Khartoum about his contribution to peace in west Darfur, after his participation in the Peace Week Programme organized by UNAMID Community Outreach Unit in EL-Geniena.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 17 May 2017: UNAMID to build HIV/AIDS voluntary testing and psychological counseling Centre in El-Salam IDPs Camp

    This program features construction of a Health Center for HIV/AIDS voluntary testing and psychological counseling in El-Salam IDPs Camp, constructed by Sudan National Aids Program (SNAP) of North Darfur, in collaboration with UNAMID HIV/AIDS Unit. It also features the role of religious leaders in the promotion of peace in North Darfur, a training workshop organized by High Council of Religious Leaders in collaboration with UNAMID.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 16 May 2017: Ways to maintain women’s healthy hair and beauty.

    This program features an interview with Nakhila Idris, a displaced woman from Abu Shouk IDP’s camp, about new ways for making local perfume business to feed her children. The program also features how children think about their future in Camps for displaced people in EL-Fasher. It also features ways to maintain healthy hair and beauty of women.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 15 May 2017: How to protect women and children from violence in the conflict areas of Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Adam Suleiman, Deputy Director of National Commission of Humanitarian Affairs, about the support provided by UNAMID and International Organizations to the IDPs in Darfur. The program also features UNAMID’s collaboration with National Police Administrative in organizing training workshops for the Police Detectives on how to protect women and children from violence in the conflict areas of Darfur. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 14 May 2017: Changing the lives of women in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Ismael Adam Hilal, Assistant Medical Officer of Health Center in Shangil Tobaya about health problems among children, and the services they provide to them in the area. It also features how Practical Action and CHF NGOs are changing the lives of women in Darfur by teaching them how to read and write.
