UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 13 April 2017: UNAMID’s Nutrition Advisor and Hygiene Awareness training for women.

    This program features a report on UNAMID’s nutrition advisory and hygiene awareness training for women from Abu-shook IDPs camp in North Darfur. The program also features an interview with Mohammed Adam Ibrahim, Head of Vaccination Center in Melleit, about how they convince families to bring their children for vaccination against child diseases.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 12 April 2017: UNAMID to support the cultivation of vegetables as an income generating activity in West Darfur.

    This program features UNAMID’s DDR support to youth activities at Ardamat IDPs camp in West Darfur. It also features Women provisions including equality in the implementation of DDPD in West Darfur which was addressed by UNAMID Gender Advisory Unit. In addition to a feature on UNAMID DDR support for the youth in Fora Baranga, in the cultivation of vegetables, as an income generating activity in West Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 11 April 2017: Children to spend pleasant and helpful summer vacation

    This program features how women from Abu-Shook IDPs camp help their children to spend pleasant and helpful summer vacation. Interview with Dr. Jihad Mohammed a social worker in EL-Fasher about ways that mothers can follow to assist their children to improve summer vacation. 

  • Voice of Children,10 April 2017: Children and the elderly benefit from close relationships.

    This program features how children in Zamzam Camp should relate to their elders. Old people need, a purpose and to feel that somebody needs them, that they can make a difference. Kids and teens get hope from hearing about victories, adventures and even problems. The old get hope, too. It alleviates some of their worries about where this world is going. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 09 April 2017: Promote unity and reconciliation between people of Darfur.

    This program features how UNAMID is improving learning environment at El-Riyad Basic School for Girls located at Um-Gedebu village, through construction of classrooms, offices, and water tank and toilet blocks. It also features on how Darfur Civil Society use the provisions set out in the DDPD document to build trust and promote unity and reconciliation between people of Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 08 April 2017: campaign against FGM in Darfur.

    This program features women supporting themselves through income generating activities, in Women Center in Zamzam IDP camp. The program also features an interview with Manal Mohammed Abolgasim, a social worker, based at the Ministry of Social Affairs of North Darfur state, about how the ministry provides social support to divorced women group in El Fasher. In addition to an interview with Sameya Salih, Member Legislative Council, in North Darfur about the work of the State Committee on violence against women and the campaign against FGM in different localities in the state.

  • Voice of Children, 07 April 2017-repeat of 3rd: Children creativity in AL salaam IDPs Camp.

    This program features children creativity in Al-salaam IDPs Camp. Creativity is the freest form of self-expression. There is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly without fear. The ability to be creative, to create something from personal feelings and experiences, can reflect and nurture children's emotional health. Make your home a Petri dish for creativity. Allow kids the freedom and autonomy to explore their ideas and do what they like. Encourage children to read for pleasure and participate in the arts.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 06 April 2017: Environmental, Sanitation, Safe water, sustainable water in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Salih Bahar, UNICEF’s Child Protection Officer, about the organization’s psychosocial support to displaced children in South Darfur. Feature on environment protection and sanitation in Otash IPD Camp. Environmental, Sanitation, Safe water, sustainable water, sanitation, health and hygiene, waste, ecological, ecofriendly systems etc. There are strong linkages between poverty and environment. Most of the target groups in Darfur live in areas with limited natural resources and where the environment is badly degraded. This involves promoting good practices that will enhance the environment such as sanitation, tree plantation and avoiding practices that result in environmental degradation.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 05 April 2017: Promotion of Veterinary Services in Melleit-North Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Abu Zaid Alzain Ahmed, Director of a Charitable Society for the Promotion of Veterinary Services in Melleit, about veterinary support to shepherds in the locality of Millet. This program features addressing the provision of Women and Equality in the implementation of DDPD, organized by UNAMID Gender in West Darfur. Interview with Director of Melleit Youth Volunteer Society, Fadul AL haj Yousif about Youth volunteering for the vaccination of displaced children in Millet and its impact on the peace-building between communities. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 04 April 2017: UNAMID Commemorates International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

    On 8 December 2005, the General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year shall be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. It called for continued efforts by States, with the assistance of the United Nations and relevant organizations, to foster the establishment and development of national mine-action capacities in countries where mines and explosive remnants of war constitute a serious threat to the safety, health and lives of the civilian population, or an impediment to social and economic development at the national and local levels. On 5 April 2017, UNAMID Ordnance Disposal Office (ODO), in collaboration with the [Sudan] National Ordnance Disposal Office (NODO) commemorated the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action under the Theme: “Mine Action is a Humanitarian Action”. The event, which took place in all Darfur, was attended by State Ministers of Social Welfare, Youth and Sports, UNAMID Officials and representatives from different local organizations, GoS Police and Sudan Armed Forces (SAF).
