UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 22 June 2017: Prevention of sexual harassment

    This program features UNAMID led workshop organized for students of El Fasher University to raise awareness on prevention of sexual harassment. In this programme you will also hear about training for prison officers in the state of North Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 21 June 2017: Traditional house during the wedding time

    In this programme you will hear about traditional nomadic Arab houses called Dandani that are built during the wedding season. In this programme you will also hear about an interview with Qamar Mohammed, an artist from Shagra village, North Darfur, about local songs.  

  • Voice of Children, 20 June 2017: Peace starts in the family

    This programme features a celebration of International Peace Day in South Darfur and a dialogue on the importance of family’s role in educating their children about peace building.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 19 June 2017: Building capacity of women in IDP camps in North Darfur

    This programme features an interview with Nafisa Ahmed Altayeb, Secretary General of the Committee on the Elimination of Violence against Women in Talab Al Tayeb, North Darfur, on the committee’s role in building the women’s capacity of IDP camps there.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 18 June 2017: The Youth’s role in combating gender-based violence

    This programme features role of youth in combating gender-based violence in West Darfur, as well as a discussion on gender equality according to the Doha Peace Document for Darfur Youth in West Darfur.

     

  • Voice of Children, 17 June 2017: Children in an IDP camp

    This programme features an interview with Hawa Ali of Al Nahda School about student relation during academic years as well as a report about the live of Hawa Ahmed Jamali and Amira Ezzedine, children in  Zamzam IDP camp in north Darfur.

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 16 June 2017: UNAMID supports construction of HIV/AIDS health screening facility

    This programme features a discussion about the construction of HIV/AIDS screening facility in Al-Salaam IDP camp in Al-Fasher, this UNAMID’s supported project is part of the Quick Impact Projects.

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 15 June 2017: Aid delivery to displaced people of Darfur

    This programme features an interview with the Deputy Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Adam Suleiman, on the role of the commission in coordinating with international organizations to deliver aid to displaced people in Darfur states.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 14 June 2017: UNAMID’s medical assistance to the IDPs in Shangile Topaya.

    This programme features UNAMID’s medical assistance to the health center in Shangil Tobay, North Darfur, particularly to help solve health problems of children in the area. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 13 June 2017: Is it important to immunize your children?

    This programme features an interview with the Director of Health Center for Immunization in Melit, North Darfur, on the need to vaccinate children from diseases, as well as a dialogue on methods used to avoid be affected by water diarrhea.
