UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.
The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00.
The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

This programme features a horse racing competition to promote peace in Darfur. Horses are considered one of the most valuable possessions amongst tribes in Darfur. A “knight” title in Darfur is only given to a man that owns a mare or stallion and has courage to fight to protect his tribe

Yala Nebni Darfur, 31 May 2017: UNAMID Gender Advisory Unit to promote gender equality and advancing the rights of women and girls.
This program features UNAMID’s Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Program, assistance to women and youth to improve hand craft products and their manual production skills in EL-Genina West Darfur. The program also features efforts by UNAMID Gender Advisory Unit to promote gender equality and advancing women’s rights to communities in EL-Genina and Furabranga.

Voice of Children, 30 May 2017: Children of Darfur believe peace is possible.
This program features a question by children of Darfur: (Do you believe peace is possible?) children do believe that together we can make it happen. That is a call from children in South Darfur for peace. In conflict areas worldwide local people are building peace, stopping violence, saving lives and healing shattered communities, children of Darfur are doing the same by calling adults for peace building.

Special Program on Peace Keepers Day 29th May 2017
This Special program features celebrations of the International Peacekeepers Day. UNAMID civilian, military and police Peacekeepers are first and foremost members of UNAMID Peacekeepers in Darfur. They come from nations large and small, rich and poor. They bring different cultures and experience to the job, but they are united in their determination to foster peace. Stopping violence, saving lives, healing shattered communities of Darfur. 29 May is celebrated annually worldwide as International Day of UN Peacekeepers to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping operations for their high level of professionalism, dedication, and courage and to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 28 May 2017: Traditions of marriage in Darfur.
This program features Gartik celebration day during marriage ceremonies of Awlad Salim tribe in El Daein - East Darfur. There are many traditions and traditions of marriage in Darfur, just as the number of tribes and territories, but this multiplicity meets all at one point which is usually called "Gartik" ritual wonders. People believe, especially women, it is a good omen that guarantees continuity of marriage. The emancipation is a "100%" Sudanese tradition, which is cherished by families because their practice and rituals make the family believe that it is a major part of the marriage, which is very different from the marriage document. The rituals usually start on the same day of the night.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 27 May 2017: Construction Health Center for voluntary examination and Psychological counseling in El-Salam IDPs Camp.
This program features construction of a Health Center for voluntary examination and Psychological counseling in El-Salam IDPs Camp, constructed by SNAP of North Darfur in collaboration with UNAMID.
The program also features the role of Religious Leaders to promote peace in North Darfur through religious guidance in Mosques, by High Council of Religious Leaders in collaboration with UNAMID.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 26 May 2017: Women’s Protection Network.
This program features the conflict resolution and peace building workshop for East Jabel Marra Locality leaders, organized by UNAMID. The program also features the Establishment of South Darfur Women’s Protection Network. The Women’s Protection Network was established to create champions of protection from within the displaced peoples’ camps. UNAMID’s GAU is committed to empower women leaders who will watch over the overall safety and security of the women living in such camps.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 25 May 2017: The phenomenon of annually home maintenances by displaced women.
This program features the phenomenon of annual home maintenances by displaced women at Abu Shook camp in EL-Fasher before the rainy season. In Darfur, the great attention paid to the displaced women in the context of United Nations’ emphasis on women, peace and security, has had a positive impact on the women’s overall status. Against this backdrop UNAMID’s Gender Advisory Unit (GAU) has established the Women’s Protection Network; this is primarily aimed at receiving timely information concerning women’s protection needs. This leads to the development of appropriate protection measures; raises awareness among local communities on women’s rights; and helps combat sexual and gender-based violence.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 24 May 2017: UNAMID’s Community Labor Intensive Projects.
This program features an interview with Saber Ahmed Elias, Manager of Spiro Local Organization about the UXOs un-exploded disposal ordinances and the organization’s activities to reduce the UXO related incidents in West and Central Darfur. The program also features UNAMID’s Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Community Labor Intensive Projects on the construction of a Secondary school for girls in Kernding IDPs camp in West Darfur and how this has impacted the IDPs children’s education.
