UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Civil society and peace building in Darfur

    This programme features the role of civil society in Darfur in peace building.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: HIV/ AIDS prevention in Darfur

    This programme features an interview with Najwa Mohammed Ahmed, UNAMID’s HIV and AIDS Unit officer, on HIV / AIDS prevention in Darfur. The programme also features an interview with Moatasem Tijani of the National Center for AIDS.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 30 June 2017: An interview with an artist of Ed-Daein

    This programme features an interview with Ahmed Marioud, a painter from Ed- Da'in, capital of East Darfur State, on how painting can be used for peace building in the region. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 29 June 2017: An interview with Head of Women’s Development Network

    This program features an interview with Khawarijah Harun, Head of Women's Development Network in Al-Fasher, on how to the organization’s programme “Rapid Response” has benefitted women in North Darfur.  

  • Voice of Children, 28 July 2017: First day at school.

    This program features an interview with Hawa Jabir, “I will never forget my first day of school. I was very frightened and I grabbed my mother's hand tidily. I was so scared I was left alone by mom. When teachers told parents to return home and leave children, many children start to cry. I was also one of them. But I couldn't cry anymore when teacher scold the big one who was sitting in front of me. There's a stick in teacher's hand”. One of the children in his first experience to enter Zamzam Basic School.

  • Voice of Children, 27 June 2017: Childcare in Darfur

    This programme features childcare facility in Darfur and their conditions. This programme will provide information on how to choose the best child care facility.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 26 June 2017: Transitional justice in Darfur

    This programme features concept of transitional justice in solving problems in Darfur as stipulated in the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. It also features an interview with Director of Copyright Department of Ministry of Culture in South Darfur, Saad’ Edeen Hassan, on the registration of authors' rights in various intellectuals and cultural subjects.

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 25 June 2017: Special Program on Eid El-Fitter

    In this special programme, you will hear about the Eid El-Fitter celebration in Darfur and its relation to peace building in the conflict region. 

     

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 24 June 2017: We want peace

    This programme features UNAMID supported peace-building activity by organizing a workshop “We want peace” for women and young people in West Darfur. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 23 June 2017: UNAMID supports community peace initiative in West Darfur

    You will hear about UNAMID sponsored activities to support a community initiative to have peaceful coexistence between Forobaranga and Habila localities in West Darfur. In this programme you will also hear an interview with Mohammed Abdullah Shalaby, vocational trainer, on skill production.
