UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1,July 2017: An interview with business woman of IDP camp

    This programme features an interview with Nakheela Idris from the Abu shook IDPs camp about her small income generating business by making perfumes.  

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: The story of Darfuri poet

    In this programme you will hear about Susan Eissa Adam, Darfuri poet, who had to flee from her village in Korma because of the conflict that has engulfed the region. Her poems are mainly about her longing to her village and the life in the village.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1 July 2017: UNAMID’s Quick Impact Projects (QIPs)

    This programme features UNAMID supported workshop in Quick Impact Projects and its benefits for people of Darfur.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: UNAMID supports capacity building project for prison officers in North Darfur

    This programme features UNAMID supported training for the newly recruited prison officers in prison work as well as an interview with Brigadier General Ahmed Bashir Jumaa about a partnership with UNAMID in building capacity of prison officers in North Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: UNAMID’s Community-based Labor-Intensive Projects

    The CLIPs programme offers vocational skills training and temporary employment of youth through implementation of the projects. Based on a market survey, youth receive vocational skills training on specializations that are locally high on demand, or on-the-job training on construction skills through rehabilitation of local community infrastructure.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: Children with special needs

    This programme features activities of Women's Creativity Association in El Fasher, and an interview with Khadija Al-Mahi, a social researcher on how to take care of children with special needs. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Growing up in conflict environment

    This programme talks about bullying that has affected children’s psychology. Also in this programme you will hear an interview with  Dr. Kamal El-Din Ahmed, a psychologist, about mental state of women of Darfu during pregnancy.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Unexploded Ordnance in West Darfur

    This programme features an interview with Saber Ahmed Elias, Director of Spiro National Organization about how to reduce and prevent injuries caused by Unexploded Ordnance in West Darfur.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: Expectations for girls and boys

    In this programme you will hear about parents’ expectations for girls and boys in Darfur. In a conflict zone such as Darfur, parents have different expectations for girls and boys.   

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Traditional tools for solving problems in Darfur

    This programme features a workshop supported by UNAMID in partnership with local youth centre in Al-Wehda district, El-Fasher.
