UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

    This programme features how legislatures and political leaders contribute to the peace process through dialogue in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1.1, August 2017: Gender based violence awareness campaign in South Darfur

    This programme features the effective ways to raise Gender based violence awareness amongst South Darfur community

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: How children prepare for exams at school

    This programme talks about difficulties for Darfuri children to prepare for exams due to circumstances around their living area as a result of the conflict.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Peace building activity in Serif area

    In this programme you will hear about peace co-existence amongst different tribes in Serif area, North Darfur as a result of peace building activities organized by civil society organizations in cooperation with Darfur authority.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: First day at school (repeat)

    In this programme you will hear experiences faced by children in IDPs of Darfur in their first day at school.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Wedding traditions of the Erakat tribe

    In this programme you will hear about wedding traditions of Erakat tribe in Darfur

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: Equal opportunity for girls and boys in education

    In this programme you will hear about the equal opportunity in accessing education for girls and boys of Darfur. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Darfuri children suffer from skin disease

    This programme talks about the support of local authorities to help newly arrived displaced people and their children from the Fenca camp to the Abu-Qush camp. It also features an interview with Dr. Ahmed El-Dour of El Fasher hospital on how to treat vitiligo, a skin disease common among children. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1 July 2017: UNAMID supports cultural festival in Al-Tinah

    This programme features UNAMID organized cultural festival in Al-Tinah, North Darfur. In this programme you will also hear about UNAMID supported human rights workshop in accordance with the provision of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur.
