UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Peace building activities in West Darfur

    This programme talks about peace building activities through dialogues held by community leaders in West Darfur by addressing root causes or potential causes of violence, create a societal expectation for peaceful conflict resolution.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Democracy and Good Governance

    This program features a UNAMID led seminar in partnership with Center for Peace and Development Studies at University of El-Fashir on Democracy and Good Governance. 

  • 10 Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: Control anxiety, speak confidently

    In this programme you will hear about a conversation between two children of Darfur on how to control anxiety and  speak confidently. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Wedding traditions in Darfur

    This programme talks about wedding celebrations in Darfur that last for more than five days where family and friends come from near and far. Visitors often stay with the family, adding to the cost of these elaborate series of celebrations. The wedding celebration is vary in regions of Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Life of blind man from Abu Shook IDP camp

    This programme features an interview with a blind man from the Abu Shook IDP camp, El Fasher, North Darfur about his daily activities. You will also hear on how primary school teachers in Darfur educate their students about polio. 

  • Voice of Children, Vol 1, July 2017: Child Education amid conflict in Darfur

    This programme features the effect of conflict to the children’s education in Darfur 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: UNAMID supports health centre in Orokum

    This programme features benefits provided by the only health center in the village of Orokum. This UNAMID supported health centre provides health care services to the local population.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Women in Melit help their family’s economy

    In this programme you will hear about economic activities of women in Melit to help their family’s livelihood.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, Vol 1, July 2017: Clean water shortage in Selei

    This programme features some difficulties faced by women in the village of Selei including collection and provision of clean water. Women in the village suffer from a shortage of services and healthy drinking water, it is usually women who are responsible for the collection and provision of water for their respective households.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur Vol 1, July 2017: Life of Darfuri women after getting married

    This programme features a discussion about the life of Darfuri women that changes after getting married.
