UNAMID presents computers to Nyala University

On 9 July 2014, as part of the Mission’s quick impact projects (QIPs) programme, UNAMID in South Darfur presented computers to Nyala University. The computers, which are designed to help increase student productivity and learning, are going to be used in the school’s training centre.

In his remarks during the handover ceremony, UNAMID’s Head of Office, Mr. Imtiaz Hussein, said he hoped the project will benefit students and reaffirmed the Mission’s commitment to contribute to development in the region and enhance the institution’s resources.

Also in remarks delivered during the handover ceremony, the Deputy Chancellor of Nyala University, Professor Ibrahim Mohamed Sharif, praised UNAMID for its assistance to the University.

Since 2007, UNAMID has worked closely with communities and with non-governmental organizations to address the basic issues that have led to the conflict in Darfur and to provide ways to improve the living conditions of the people in the region. The Mission has implemented several quick impact projects across the region to help local communities rehabilitate schools, improve hospitals and strengthen vita infrastructure.
