19 February 2009 -- UNAMID Force Commander, Gen. Martin Luther Agwai, today met with the Minister of Defence, Gen. Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hussain, in Khartoum to discuss the security situation in Darfur, particularly in relation to the recent strife in Muhajeriya and Labado in South Darfur.

While reiterating the Government’s commitment towards providing security for all of its citizens, the Minister also expressed appreciation for the cooperation between UNAMID and the Government in ensuring the protection of civilians and internally displaced persons (IDPs) throughout Darfur.
