UNAMID Engineers Contribute to Improving East Darfur Infrastructure

As part of the African Union–United Nations Mission in Darfur’s (UNAMID) continuing efforts to assist local communities, UNAMID Chinese engineers on 21 January began improvements to El-Daein’s airport in East Darfur.

The works, consisting of the construction of an 8 kilometer perimeter fence around the airfield, are expected to be completed by early March. Last year the Chinese peacekeepers undertook a similar initiative in the locality by refurbishing a 4 kilometer road linking the airport to the town.
