UNAMID Deputy Chief bids farewell to Darfur

19 May 2010 - “This is the end of my service in Darfur, and I thank you for the honor,” said UNAMID’s outgoing Deputy Joint Special Representative (DJSR) Major-General Henry Anyidoho (Rtd) at a parade held today in his honor at the Mission’s headquarters in El Fasher, North Darfur.

“As I leave here today, I leave you in the capable hands of God Almighty to continue to direct your affairs so that the peace we are all yearning for, we shall achieve,” he said.
Henry K. Anyidoho was appointed to his post in August 2007. Since then, the Mission saw the deployment of its uniformed and civilian personnel reach over 85 per cent and witnessed immense strides made in the Darfur peace process.
The outgoing DJSR previously served in a number of peacekeeping missions, including Lebanon, Cambodia, Liberia and Rwanda. He also headed the UN Assistance Cell that provided strategic level advice to the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS).
