UNAMID Conducts Two-Day Training Workshop in South Darfur on Gender Issues

28 October 2009 -- As part of its work to support the Government of Sudan with technical advice and activities that contribute to gender mainstreaming and the implementation of fundamental policies, regulations, legislation and resolutions, the UNAMID Sector South Gender Advisory Unit, in collaboration with the Office of South Darfur State Advisor for Woman and Child Affairs, organized a two-day Training Workshop on 26-27 Oct 2009 on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on “Women, Peace and Security”.

The outcome of the workshop was the creation of an action plan as well as monitoring mechanisms which highlight the government’s commitments, responses, and policies for the implementation of the UNSCR 1325.

Meanwhile, on 26 October, a UNAMID Team Site Team comprising Human Rights officers, Gender officers, Investigating officers and Language Assistants went to GoS Police Station in Kutum to lecture on Human Rights and Gender Based Violence awareness.
