21 October 2009 -- The visiting Rwandan Chief of Defense, Gen. James Kabarebe, was received today with military honors by the UNAMID Force Commander (FC). He discussed with the FC the security situation in Darfur as well as the state of the Mission.

The Rwandan official also met with UNAMID Acting Joint Special Representative (JSR a.i.), Henry Anyidoho, who expressed appreciation for the contribution of Rwanda to UNAMID and to enhancing security and stability in Darfur. The JSR a.i. briefed Gen. Kabarebe on the political and security situation on the ground and discussed with him prospects for the upcoming new round of talks in Doha. They agreed on the need for international consensus on the strategy for Darfur.
