This program features ways to encourage and raise future leaders from the children of today. The program teaches children to learn to solve their own problems, make decisions, practice listening skills, apologize when necessary, be creative and imaginative enough to start something new, understand the delegation of responsibilities and sharpen communication skills. This program is done against the background that children in Darfur suffer from huge deprivations such as limited access to qualitative education and primary healthcare, hunger, malnutrition and disease. Many children in different parts of the region sit on bare floors or share seats in the classroom to learn.

UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.
The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00.
The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 23 March 2017: Phenomenon of jealousy among Children (Part Two)
This program features an interview with Dr. Jihad Mohammed, a social worker in El Fasher, on the change of attitude by children in relation to jealousy after they have been addressed by a social worker. This program notes that jealousy is an emotional response which refers to the thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, concerns and anxiety over an anticipated loss of status or something of great personal value and that as intra-family phenomenon which involves parents and siblings, jealousy has a strong influence on family relationships.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 22 March 2017: Girls as School Dropouts in Darfur
In this program girls in Darfur are made to see society as providing equal opportunity in education and employment for both boys and girls especially as girls in Darfur often drop out of school. The program examines how access to education can be improved. The program observes that schoolgirls from North Darfur State often hope for academic success, regardless of whether they live in camps for the internally displaced or in cities. However, they are frequently deterred from fulfilling their aspirations by family, society and the difficult conditions facing many in Darfur. The program also features how UNAMID has motivated more than 200 students to work for the future of Darfur.

This program focuses on the nebulous phenomenon of jealousy among children in the family. Yala Nebni Darfur, 20 March 2017: Breast milk is best for your baby.
This program which focuses on the importance of breast-feeding for the child is an interview with Dr. Adam Salih, an obstetrician and Gynecologist in El-Fasher. The program submits that breastmilk is best for the baby because the benefits of breastfeeding extend well beyond basic nutrition. Apart from providing basic nutrition, breastmilk contains all the vitamins and nutrients the baby needs in the first six months of life. Breastmilk is also packed with disease-fighting substances that protect the baby from illness. In this program also there is an interview with Dr. Ahmed Hassan on the symptoms of breast cancer and its prevention.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 19 March 2017: UNAMID Supports Judicial System in West Darfur
This program features a report on the handover of a meeting hall by UNAMID to support the Judiciary System in West Darfur. The African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) on 12 March, 2017, handed over a rural court to the local and judicial authorities in West Darfur, which was built as part of the Mission’s quick impact projects. The support from UNAMID’s Rule to Darfur includes the provision of mobile courts, capacity building for judges, prosecutors and lawyers, and the facilitation of access to justice for people in remote areas through the provision of transportation.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 18 March 2017: Combating Gender Based Violence in Darfur.
This program features the role of youth in combating gender based violence (GBV) in West Darfur. Conflict-related sexual violence, including rape, attempted rape, and abduction for the purposes of sexual exploitation, sexual assault, sexual humiliation and serious injuries or killings following rape, remain a dominant feature of the conflict in Darfur. The African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) is putting efforts to involve everybody in Darfur in raising awareness with regards to GBV. The program also features ways to address Women and Equality provisions as contained in the DDPD document, in a workshop organized by UNAMID Gender Advisory Unit, in West Darfur.

Voice of Children,17 March 2017-repeat of 14th: Mobile schools for nomadic education in Darfur.
This program features an interview with Ismael Adam Hilal, Assistant Medical Officer of Health Center in Shangil, Tobey, on health problems among children and the services the Medical Centre provides to the children in the area. The program also features Mobile schools and how they provide primary education for nomadic communities in Darfur.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 16 March 2017: Local customs in resolving dispute in Darfur.
This program features a football tournament in El-Nasir area which has been organized to promote peace and solidarity among the Youth of El-Fasher. It also features UNAMID DDR Section organizing projects in collaboration with El-Fasher Technical School to reduce the rate of unemployment among the youth of El-Fasher. Besides, the program also focuses on the role of local customs in resolving dispute in Darfur where there are no legal provisions.

Yala Nebni Darfur, 15 March 2017: Training for 30 Government prison staff.
In this program, UNAMID is presented as having provided training to 30 Prison Police Officers from the Darfur region of Sudan. This training program was replicated by the Mission on a number of occasions for many other prison staff in Darfur. Prison work is complex and requires a variety of skills especially as many recruits would not have had a good knowledge of prison work beforehand. Training is, therefore, a necessary and important part of developing and maintaining a skilled, motivated and committed prison staff workforce. This training is particularly important as prison staffs are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitude to perform their duties well and give respect and protection to the rights and dignity of detainees.
