UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Voice of Children, 13 February 2017: How should the children behave towards other people in a polite manner?-repeat.

    This program features Education for a better future for children of Darfur. A report by children explains how education is important for all children, and some voices call on the local government, UNAMID and NGOs to assist children to get education, especially the displaced children. The program farther discusses how children should behave towards other people in a polite manner.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 12 February 2017: Cowale, a favorite food in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Mona Elnour, Head of the Association Foundation, a charity organization in Kunjara village, north Darfur. She speaks about income generating activities of Cafor Association, which is supported by UNAMID and other UN Agencies in the area. It also features the Cowale, a favorite food, during rainy season among Darfuri.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 11 February 2017: People living with disability in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Salah Eldeen Abdulrahman about how he lost his eyesight and how he is managing to live with his disability. People living with disability in Darfur are very active members in the community they also used to participate in the peace building activities with UNAMID. The program also features an interview with Nada Mohammed Ahmed, employee of the Ministry of Finance and Economy - Cultural Secretary of the Disabled Union.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 09 February 2017: UNAMID to reduce conflicts between Herders and Farmers.

    This program features an interview with Director General of Prisons and reform in Sudan, Abou-Obaieda Suliman, about collaboration with UNAMID in the field of Training and Inspection accordance with the International Standard. The program also features an interview with Omdah of Um-Sidir, Al-Amin Zakaria about the benefits from water resources that were provided by UNAMID to the locality to reduce the conflicts between Herders and Farmers.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 08 February 2017: Highlights about UNAMID’s activities

    This program features an interview with Khadija Haroon Jalli, Head of El-fasher-based Women Development Network, about the role of the organization in women development. The Program also features the Do you know program which is highlights about UNAMID’s activities from its different sections and units. Today’s Programme focuses on DDR activities.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 07 February 2017: The role of Native administration in peace building

    This program features the role of Darfur Native administrations in peace building in the region. In Darfur history, native administrations played a great role in solving problems that occur from time to time among tribes in the region. The program further features an interview with Hasbu Mohammed, Programs coordinator for South Darfur State Committee for Compacting Gender Base Violence, about the cooperation between the Committee and UNAMID, to raise gender sensitization issues among the local communities in Darfur.

  • Voice of Children, 06 February 2017: Role of family in raising a child-repeat of 3 Feb.

    Children are subject to the way their families help them to grow-up and shape their future. This program features the role of family and the importance of educating children in a better conditions and the importance of being a good role model. The program also features the role of girls in the community and the importance of giving the girls the opportunity to access education and participate in their community and beyond.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 05 February 2017: campaign against violence against women

    In this Episode there’s a debate about the role of women in society and the search for women’s rights within the framework of the celebration of International Women's Day and the 16 days of activism on campaign against violence against women. This program features how UNAMID is working to raise women's awareness in nutrition and hygiene at Abu Shouk camp. Interview with Mohammed Adam, Director of the Immunization Center in Millet, about how the Centre convinces families to bring their children to be vaccinated against childhood diseases.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 04 February 2017: Culture of Darfur

    The program features the culture of Darfur by elaborating the activities of Goz Guozah Community Development Association, a cultural group based in Um Lutua village in Kabkabya locality in North Darfur, which is active in saving the heritage of Darfur. The program also features an interview with Al Tayeb Abakar, Chief Omdah of Kabkabya locality in North Darfur. He talks about the history of the area and the historical relationship between different cultural groups.
