  • 26 Jan 2020 - Zalingei, 26 January 2020— In the aftermath of the recent looting incidents of UN assets in West, South and more recently, North Darfur, UNAMID’s Joint Special Representative/Joint Chief Mediator, Jeremiah Mamabolo met with Government of Sudan officials, and agreed to immediately reactivate a joint security mechanism that will allow for speedy security related consultations and decisions.

    14 Jan 2020 - Zalingei, 14 January 2020 - On 13 January, UNAMID Joint Special Representative/Joint Chief Mediator (JSR/JCM), Jeremiah Mamabolo visited the deserted Krinding camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in El Geneina town in West Darfur State, to assess the extent of damage during the recent intercommunal clashes that resulted in a number of fatalities and injuries as well as mass displacement amongst the civilian population in the area.  
  • 03 Jan 2020 - Zalingei, 3 January 2020- The African Union – United Nations Hybrid Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) is deeply concerned by reports of intercommunal violence in West Darfur that left 65 people dead and approximately 54 injured, displaced thousands of civilian population, destroyed shelters and burnt villages.
  • 30 Dec 2019 - Zalingei, 30 December 2019- UNAMID welcomes the framework agreement signed between the Transitional Government of Sudan and the Darfur armed movements (Darfur Track) during the peace talks in Juba, South Sudan, on 28 December 2019. The agreement demonstrates progress in advancing the peace process as it outlines key issues and principles that would guide the ongoing negotiations and serves as a basis for a fair and comprehensive peace agreement.
