11 Apr 11 - Nyala police train in investigative techniques

 

11 April 2011 - Twenty-five police officers from Nyala, South Darfur, took part today in a seminar organized by UNAMID on investigative techniques and international human rights standards.

The participants discussed their duties as law enforcement officials, protection of witnesses and evidence, command responsibility and national and state laws. A similar training on procedures of arrest, detention, the use of force and the use of firearms is scheduled for tomorrow. The workshop is part of a series aimed at enhancing the rule of law and the capacity of local judicial systems.
