05 November - At approximately 0225, unidentified gunmen shot a UNAMID peacekeeper as he was guarding a water point 3 kilometers north east of Kutum in North Darfur. UNAMID forces nearby retaliated with fire which forced the perpetrators to flee.   The peacekeeper was rushed to a nearby UNAMID medical centre for treatment and later evacuated to the Mission’s hospital in El Fasher and is in a stable condition.

The Mission is appealing to the Sudanese authorities to speedily investigate this wanton incident to bring the perpetrators to justice.
