03 Feb 11 - Deputy Police Commissioner meets IDPs, peacekeepers in South Darfur

03 February 2011 - UNAMID Deputy Police Commissioner (DPC) for Operations Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi yesterday visited EL Deain, located 150 kilometers southeast of Nyala, South Darfur, where he met with IDPs and peacekeepers.

DPC Ogunjemilusi spoke to Mission personnel at UNAMID’s team site and was briefed on the general security situation. Among those on hand included 140 officers from Burkina Faso, the country’s first Formed Police Unit troop contribution to UNAMID.

The Deputy Commissioner later met with community leaders at the Neem IDP camp, home to more than 65,000 residents, where sanitation and food supply concerns are reported to affect more than 10 percent of the population.
