02 Feb 2012- UNAMID Deputy Chief launches development projects in North Darfur village
Kuma Garadayat, a constellation of eleven villages with a population of over four-thousand people who returned to the village in 2009 after being displaced by the conflict, has already received humanitarian assistance from UN agencies, facilitated by UNAMID. The Mission also distributed, in April 2011, 375 high-capacity rolling water containers, which facilitate the transportation of water.

Ms. Souleymane remarked that "the past several years have been hard on your community, especially women and children. You have struggled through conflict and displacement. The truce signed in 2009 presented you with a chance to return to your homes and rebuild. Your community has made significant efforts to maintain peace in your area since then." She added that "UNAMID will continue to support you in your efforts to advance peace and prosperity in your communities."
