UNAMID receives new acting Deputy Chief

 

El Fasher, 01 February 2011 – Ambassador Ki Doulaye Corentin, of Burkina Faso, assumed his duties on 29 January 2011 as UNAMID’s new acting Deputy Joint Special Representative (DJSR).

Ki Doulaye brings to the position extensive international experience and knowledge of Darfur from his previous posts at the African Union (AU). The acting DJSR will work closely with JSR Ibrahim Gambari and DJSR for Operations and Management Mohamed Yonis to support the implementation of the Mission's mandate.

He began his diplomatic career in 1972 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, and later served his country as ambassador to the United States and Canada. He has taken part in numerous conferences and meetings at the United Nations, including the General Assembly and the Security Council.


In 1996, Ki Doulaye joined the AU where he held several positions, including Head of the Darfur Integrated Task Force. In 2007, he was appointed AU Bureau Chief in N'Djamena, Chad.

The Ambassador holds an Institute Diploma from the Diplomacy Section of the International Institute for Public Administration in Paris. He attended the University of Aix-Marseille (France) where he graduated from the Political Sciences Institute and earned a Degree in General Legal Studies from the Faculty of Law and Economics.

Ki Doulaye was born in 1946 in Burkina Faso. He is married with six children.
