UNAMID Police Advisers conduct Mine Awareness Campaign

29 October 2008 -- UNAMID police advisers, in collaboration with the Mine Action team and accompanied by protection force, conducted a lecture on mine awareness at Labado Boys School in Labado, Sector South, on Monday, 27 October. The team was also accompanied by the Sudan Liberation Army/Minawi (SLA/M) Police Commander and local leaders.

Following the lecture, the police advisers and Mine Action team, together with the SLA/M Commander, proceeded 8 km north of Labado market, where an unexploded ordinance (UXO) was located and earmarked for destruction.

The team returned to base where they had a preparatory meeting with Protection Force Commander, military observers and civilian police, for a similar exercise to be conducted in Muhajeria and other areas in Sector South.
