UNAMID peacekeepers provide medical support to South Darfur prison

UNAMID peacekeepers from Nigeria in collaboration with the Rule of Law section conducted a one-day medical camp at Nyala prison in South Darfur to provide treatment and supply medicines to the inmates.

Nyala prison lacks medicine supplies and has only one medical assistant and four nurses which are not enough to serve about 1,000 inmates that suffer from different ailments including allergy and skin infections.

The Director of Prisons in South Darfur expressed appreciation to UNAMID for the support to the prison especially the rehabilitation of facilities. He requested for more of such support to create a conducive environment for the prisoners.
