A UNAMID patrol of 63 peacekeepers and 10 vehicles is ambushed by armed gunmen claiming to be with the Sudan Liberation Army/Abdulwahid faction (SLA/AW), while on an assessment mission to the Jebel Marra region of South Darfur. The patrol’s weapons and vehicles are seized, with the exception of three armed personnel carriers. The peacekeepers are held for several hours at an unknown location.
