18 February 2010 - In his continued efforts to support the Darfur peace process, UNAMID JSR Ibrahim Gambari today paid a working visit to the office of the Sudanese Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mutrif Siddiq. During the meeting, they exchanged a number of views, including the current situation and developments in Darfur, as well as the recent attack on UNAMID peacekeepers near the city of Nyala in South Darfur.

They also discussed the situation in the areas of Jebel Marra and Jebel Moon as well as the ongoing Doha peace process. They agreed to continue their regular consultations on these and other issues relating to the Darfur peace process.

Mr. Gambari also visited the peacekeeper who was wounded during the Nyala attack and evacuated in critical condition to a Khartoum hospital. The officer’s condition is listed as stable.
