In continued efforts to promote peace through various intiatives in Darfur, UNAMID and its partners on 17 September 2018 organized a  football tournament and musical concert in El Fasher, North Darfur.

The event was organized by the Mission’s Communications and Public Information Section (CPIS), in partnership with Al Mawrada Sport and Social club and Al Salam Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp football union as part of the “Together for Peace” campaign.

Speaking at the occasion, UNAMID representative, Jumbe Omari Jumbe, emphasized that peace is essential to achieving development, economic growth and prosperity for both communities and the nation as a whole.

Similar sentiments were expressed by Mr. Mawia Abdulraham, a representative of the National Federation of Sudanese Youth in North Darfur, who highlighted some of the joint initiatives that UNAMID and his organization have embarked on to promote peace through sports and cultural activities.  He commended the Mission for its continued support to youths in Darfur.
