UNAMID hands over school to the displaced community in Al Salam camp, North Darfur

On 21 November 2015, UNAMID peacekeepers handed over the newly constructed Nusaibah Secondary School for Girls, to the displaced community at Al Salam camp for the internally displaced, North Darfur.

The project, which includes a perimeter fence, two classrooms and an office space was constructed by the Mission’s Rwandese peacekeepers . 

On his part, UNAMID Force Commander Lt.-General Paul Ignace Mella urged the Nusaibah Secondary School authorities to maintain educational standards among the school’s students. 

The headmaster of the school, Adam Reizig thanked the Mission for its support. “On behalf of the students and management of Nusaibah Secondary School, I thank UNAMID and hope that it will continue its support to education of children in Darfur,” stated Mr. Reizeg. 

The handover was also attended by the Deputy Wali, North Darfur, Abdulrahim Mohammed Ahmaday, who expressed his hope that such fruitful partnerships between UNAMID and the people of North Darfur will continue.
