UNAMID Deputy Chief bids farewell to Sudanese officials

18 May 2010 - The Mission’s outgoing Deputy Joint Special Representative (DJSR), Major-General Henry Anyidoho (Rtd), paid a final courtesy call today on the Deputy Wali of the North Darfur State, Mr. Idris Abdallah Hassan.

In his remarks, the Deputy Wali praised the DJSR for his unwavering commitment to the search for a durable peace in Darfur. He commended Mr. Anyidoho for his efforts in laying a solid foundation for active cooperation and collaboration between the local government of North Darfur and UNAMID.

In his response, the DJSR acknowledged the Deputy Wali's commendation while expressing appreciation for Darfurians’ reputable hospitality and sense of sharing. Mr. Anyidoho recalled the recent elections as a notable indication that peace in Darfur was within grasp and expressed hope that progress and gains made thus far would continue to be built upon lasting peace, stability and development for all Darfurians.
