31 May; UNAMID Joint Special Representative/ Joint Chief Mediator(JSR/JCM), Mr. Jeramiah Mamabolo (left), and the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization in Sudan, Mr. Babagana Ahmadu, signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding for implementation of a joint project on strengthening local capacities to address intercommunal violence and to find sustainable solutions to its root causes in Darfur region. The project is also aimed at preventing and mitigating recurrent conflicts between farmers and nomadic herders in the region through the demarcation of migratory routes and camping sites and providing basics services along the routes and corridors for both nomads and farmers.
