25 May; UNAMID officially handed over its Team Site in Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur to the Government of the Sudan, in the presence of the United Nations Police Adviser, Mr. Luis Carrilho Ribeiro (Center left), representative of the Wali (Governor) of North Darfur State, representatives from the Government’s Joint Taskforce, local officials, various stakeholder groups from Shangil Tobaya community including IDPs and UNAMID staff. Shangil Tobaya team site was the last of 14 deep field sites handed over to the Government of Sudan. The North Darfur Government and the Government’s Joint Taskforce strongly reconfirmed theircommitment to ensure civilian end-use of the former Shabgil Tobaya Team Site which is designated to be used as Multipurpose Centre. The handover documents were signed by Mr. Sultan Temuri, Acting Police Commissioner (second right) on behalf of the UNAMID and Dr.Mujtaba El Tigani Yousif, Representative of the Wali of North Darfur State signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Sudan.
