18 January; A UNAMID delegation led by the Mission’s Officer-in-Charge Operations, Ms. Anita Kiki Gbeho participated in a one-day high level joint forum with the Transitional Government of Sudan. The forum held in Khartoum, Sudan discussed issues related to UNAMID’s drawdown, including a framework agreement to lay foundation for the handover of UNAMID Team Sites, as well as facilitating a seamless drawdown and withdrawal of the Mission and exit from Darfur in accordance with Security Council resolution 2559 (2020) which terminated UNAMID mandate as of 31 December 2020, and authorized a six-month period for the Mission to complete the withdrawal of all uniformed and civilian UNAMID personnel by 30 June 2021, other than those required for the Mission’s liquidation.
