On 9 June 2017, a large-scale fire at Korma camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) resulted in the destruction of some 700 homes and the death of five displaced persons. 19 more people were injured and 200 animals were killed in the fire. UNAMID peacekeepers assisted with extinguishing the fire and providing first aid to the injured.
