10 January 2021; UNAMID officially handed over its Community Policing Centre (CPC) at Hamadiya Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Zalingei, Central Darfur to the Government of Sudan. The handover is part of the Mission’s drawdown plan in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2559 (2020) which terminated UNAMID mandate as of 31 December 2020 and authorized for a period of 6 month for the Mission’s drawdown and exit. The handover documents were signed by the Wali (Governor) of Central Darfur State, Mr. Adeeb Abdulrahman Yousif (right) on behalf of the Government of Sudan and Chief Regional Field Coordination Team, Mr. Lameck Kawiche (left) on behalf of UNAMID.
