Operation Springbasket was conceptualized within the framework of the UNAMID Protection of Civilians Strategy with the aim of expanding humanitarian access and improving delivery of humanitarian relief. 

The Operation is a joint UNAMID - UN humanitarian community effort, with the ultimate goal of establishing permanent and safe access to remote and complex  areas. 

The initial round of assessment has been successfully completed. UNAMID is waiting for feedback from OCHA to provide the schedule for aid deliveries by international agencies to all 10 localities visited and assessed by the international community through the initial phase of Operation Springbasket.
