More than 100 Darfuri tribal leaders from all tribes in North Darfur and the native administrations participated in a two–day conference to discuss the root causes of tribal conflicts in Darfur and to propose possible solutions for sustainable peaceful coexistence in the region.

On the morning of 29 September 2013, a UNAMID helicopter developed a technical fault while on a flight from Zalingei to Nertiti, in Central Darfur, soon after taking off. The pilot turned back to Zalingei helipad and during the emergency landing the aircraft crashed and was badly damaged.
